The secure government site in Melbourne faced a significant challenge with its gates located at the bottom of a hill, directly in the path of water, sand and gravel runoff from an unsealed parking area at the top. During heavy rains, the runoff would create conditions unsuitable for traditional in-ground bollards.
Upon visiting the site, we recommended the Matador surface mount auto bollards, strategically installed on a raised hump to divert the majority of water flow. Additionally, a strip drain was installed to catch and redirect as much water as possible before it reached the bollards. This innovative approach ensured that the Matador bollards can operate efficiently, with any water that reaches them draining away.
